SKY CAVE

2021

Solo exhibition at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts 2021 - 2022.

Conceived for the central gallery space at PICA, this body of work included sculpture, video and installation, using the dramatic height of the gallery for the presentation of historical hang gliders. Sky Cave continued my excavations of my family archives documenting an ever-present pursuit of flight.

The project continued my collaboration with my father, an amateur aviator for nearly 50 years. Sky Cave built on my parents’ pioneering contribution to the sport of hang gliding to examine the complexity of family narratives and relationship to place, and the transference of skill, memory and points of connection across generations.
